Post Care Instructions
Immediately After Visit
You may resume your normal skincare regimen and all usual activity immediately after your Sofwave treatment.
Within 1 Week
Following your Sofwave treatment, you may experience some mild redness, swelling, tenderness or discomfort in the treatment areas. This may last for a few hours to several days. Please tell your MK Aesthetics provider if it persists for more than 3 days.
FAQ for Sofwave™
Am I a good candidate for Sofwave?
A good candidate for Sofwave™ is age 30+ with mild to moderate skin aging. If more moderate to severe aging and skin laxity is present, more treatments may be needed for your aesthetic goals.
Which areas can I treat with Sofwave™?
Sofwave™ is approved for full face treatment: brows, mid-lower face and neck.
Is it painful?
Yes, there is some discomfort with the Sofwave™ treatment. We instruct patients to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen 45 minutes prior to their appointment to help with discomfort. If more comfort measures are needed, we offer ProNox (laughing gas) for an additional fee.
When can I expect to see results?
You can expect to see results in as early as a week following the treatment. However, the collagen regeneration process does take time, so patients usually see results after 8-12 weeks, with ongoing improvements 3 months after their treatment.
How long do the results last, and are the results permanent?
The results are permanent; however, aging continues to happen, so we recommend maintenance treatments every 1-2 years.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on the severity of laxity in your skin. Patients with mild to moderated laxity, or who are 45 years of age or younger typically need just one treatment. Clients with moderate to severe laxity, or who are age 45 or older may need two treatments. It is very dependent on the client and their body’s response to the treatment.
Can Sofwave™ replace a surgical procedure?
Sofwave™ is a great alternative for those who are not ready to take that extra step and undergo plastic surgery. The results will be more dramatic in a surgical procedure, but as there are risks involved with any surgical procedure, Sofwave™ is a great alternative.
Is this treatment safe while pregnant or breastfeeding?
You cannot receive Sofwave™ while pregnant or breastfeeding, unless approved by your medical doctor.
